Enrolling in the cybersecurity engineering program at Flatiron School marked a pivotal step in my journey toward mastering cybersecurity. Over the course of four intensive months, I delved into a comprehensive curriculum that covered foundational to advanced skills. The program was structured into distinct phases, each focusing on critical aspects such as network security, systems security, applied cryptography, and Python programming.

One of the standout experiences was the Cybersecurity Capstone project, where I delved into real-world scenarios under the guidance of industry experts. Investigating an information leak, I meticulously reviewed command histories and logs to pinpoint unauthorized root access and instances of weak password exploitation. Applying my knowledge, I designed a secure network with segmentation, ensuring robust defenses against potential threats.

During this phase, I set up and configured essential components such as secure workstations, web servers with SSL/TLS encryption, helpdesk servers, chat servers, and a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system. These hands-on tasks not only reinforced my understanding of cybersecurity principles but also sharpened my practical skills in deploying and managing secure IT infrastructures.

The culmination of the capstone project included presenting comprehensive security policy recommendations aimed at enhancing organizational defenses and mitigating future risks. This experience not only challenged me intellectually but also prepared me to navigate complex cybersecurity challenges in a professional setting.

Simultaneously, I pursued my CCNA certification, complementing my cybersecurity education with a deep dive into networking fundamentals. The dedication and effort invested during this period paid off when I successfully passed the CCNA exam shortly after completing the bootcamp.

My time at Flatiron School was more than an educational experience; it was a transformative journey that solidified my passion for cybersecurity.
